Supporters Direct have been right at the heart of supporter engagement for the past 10 years, helping to set up and support more than 150 supporters organisations in the UK with one of their principle aims to build a better relationship between their Club, the supporters and the community. During this time we have had the pleasure of working with some inspiring people from both the supporter community and Custodians and employees of Clubs. It isn’t always rosy, and there is plenty of bad practice but we have seen some really positive supporter/club partnerships flourish at Clubs like Swansea City, Bradford City and Dorchester Town.
On top of this we have seen some of the supporter owned clubs excel in how they put the supporters and the community at the heart of the Club, led by FC United of Manchester but with clubs like Lewes and AFC Rushden and Diamonds following suit and coming up with their own creative ideas to engage and draw on their communities.
Thanks to this network and the experience of our team working in and around clubs, we are uniquely placed to see things from both sides and develop ideas to change the relationship for the benefit of both supporters and their Clubs.
