The Board members of Bamber Bridge FC contacted SDCD after the members of the Club had decided that a community owned club structure was what they wanted for their Club. The Club own their own facility at Irongate, with a social club used on most nights and currently play in the Evo-Stick Northern Premier – First Division North.
The members liked the idea of the limited liability and the asset lock protection that our rules offered so we embarked on a process to tailor a set of rules for the Club and have them incorporated.
We were able to offer support in overcoming a few hurdles too. For example by offering community shares in the new legal entity we found a way to satisfy some historic debtors, but also ensure that it was the Club who decided whether they could afford to make any repayments. That alongside a transfer of assets agreement all helped in satisfying the Football Association and the transfer of the membership to the new legal entity.
Club Treasurer Geoff Wright said”
“We were looking for a means where the benefits of incorporation could be coupled with a shareholder structure that ensured one man one vote with asset protection. We were therefore most grateful with the help given by SD to incorporate under the IPS structure that delivered exactly what we required.”
